Respond, Inc. is hiring a Cook for their Child Development Center. The Cook prepares ingredients in order to serve food, produces meals as specified and helps clean their workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines. Cook follows recipes consistently, adjusts based on requests, and communicates with Assistant Cook and Center Director as needed to fulfill their role. Hours of the position are: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 1:30pm, with an unpaid half hour lunch prior to 1:00pm.
Job Description | Essential Functions
- Works with Cook Assistant to ensure efficient run of the kitchen
- Ensures ingredients and final products are fresh
- Checks the quality and freshness of ingredients
- Follows recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
- Bakes, grills, steams and boils meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
- Occasionally serves food
- Maintains a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
- Handles and stores ingredients and food
- Maintains food safety and sanitation standards
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment and utensils
- Executes opening and closing procedures
- Sets up workstation with required ingredients and equipment
- Monitors station inventory levels
- Accommodates special requests
- Operates kitchen equipment and appliances such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers, cutters, knives, and mixers
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe certification a plus
- 2 years of experience in kitchen operations
- Understanding of food health and safety regulations
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Thoroughness and attention to detail

Physical demands
